Mangaluru: Kudroli Temple to host widows’ remarriages in Dasara - 2015

Mangaluru, Dec 02, 2014: After several social reforms, the veteran Congress leader Janardhan Poojari is all set to organize widows’ re-marriages at Gokarnanat temple, Kudroli here during Dasara – 2015.

 

Addressing the media persons, here on Saturday November 29, the former union minister Janardhan Poojary said that the ceremony will be open to all. Even Muslims and Christians can participate, and the ceremonies will be conducted as per their respective customs.

 

 

Urging people to give up superstitious beliefs, Poojary said that practices such as Made Snana and Yede-Snana were not required to please God and restricting to ’Urulu Seve’ could just be enough to seek God’s benevolence. ‘On these lines, we are going to organize Urulu Seve at Gokarnananata temple, Kudroli, here for 2 days during Sasti,’ said Poojary.

 

‘Made Snana meant rolling over leftover food of upper caste by devotees and that Pejavar Swami has to explain if it makes any sense to roll over the leftovers of  Brahmins. The devotees with no diseases will get a few ailments, if they roll over the leftovers,’ opined Poojary.

 

Rejecting ’Yede Snana’, Poojary said that the prasadam distributed in the temples has great degree of sanctity attached to it and hence Pejavar Swami’s alternative for Made Snana to rollover Prasadam is highly condemnable because people’s sweat will gel with the prasadam affecting its sanctity.
