Mangaluru: Truck collides with bus at Nantoor R/A; 2 die; many injured

Mangaluru, 26 Nov 2014: Two persons died and nearly 15 passengers of bus injured when a truck collided with the bus at the busy Nantoor circle, on National Highway 66, here on Wednesday November 26 morning.
The deceased has been identified as twenty-one-year-old Umanath, a student of Karnataka Polytechnic (KPT) here, and bus cleaner Ganesh.
The truck was approaching Nantoor circle from KPT side, collided with the bus owned by Moodbidri-based Nishmita Travels plying from Naravi to Mangaluru.
The bus driver did not slowed down whilst approaching the busy Nantoor roundabout, led to the collision, as the truck was about to clear the roundabout towards Mahaveer roundabout, Pumpwell, its learned.
The injured were rushed to A J Hospital, just a few kilometres away from accident spot. The traffic piled up till KPT roundabout, owing to the road mishap occurred on busy morning hours.
The heavy cranes cleared the damaged vehicles from the road and the traffic was restored at the earliest.
The unscientific Nantoor roundabout has been cause of many traffic accidents with loss of many lives in the past. National Highway Authority of India has been taking long to modify the roundabout to make it accident-free.
Mangalore east police registered a case in this regard.
