Mangaluru: Konkani Academy Prez Roy inaugurates golden jubilee celebrations of Lady Hill School

Mangaluru, 25 Nov 2014: ‘Despite you got to lay higher emphasis on English, owing to commercialization, never ever forget your mother tongue and culture,’ urged Roy Castelino, president of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy.
Roy was speaking after inaugurating golden jubilee celebrations of Lady Hill English Medium Higher Primary School here on Tuesday November 25 morning.
The coastal district has people of many languages and diverse culture. It has greater significance in the entire nation, it is owing to this, the natives of coastal district have carved niche in almost all spheres. Even though, one ought to use English as a medium to run business and work, one should not disregard mother tongue Konkani, Tulu and Kannada. One should not abandon the native culture, advised Roy.
Roy further said, ‘PM Narendra Modi’s on his recent visit to USA, said that the people of almost all nations are living in USA, but Indians are found in every corners of the world. Similarly, the natives of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts are found in every corners of the world. It’s because of education set up. The coastal district created revolution in education. Our engineers and doctors are working in worldwide countries,’ said Roy.
By 2020 India will become super power in the world. The statistics proves this because India’s youth population will reach 65 percent of total population in the coming years. The percentage of elderly in other countries would increase dramatically; diminishing their growth while India will surge in every sphere, emphasized Roy.
Roy also released golden jubilee logo and brochure on the same occasion.
Several programmes are lined up to commemorate the golden jubilee celebrations.
The head teacher Sr Leticia, school governing council joint secretary Sr Celine Veera, PTA president Rajesh Shetty, vice president Rajeshwari, school pupil leader Siona Fernandes and others were present at the dais.
The students presented variety cultural shows after the stage programme.
