Mumbai: Model Co-op Bank distributes scholarships to 106 students

Mumbai, 23 Nov 2014: Model Co-operative Bank organized the annual scholarship distribution programme at Xavier Engineering College auditorium, Mahim (West) here on Saturday November 22.
The Bank chairman Albert W D’Souza presided the programme here on Saturday evening.
Fr Felix D’Souza, correspondent of Our Lady of Salvation High School, Dadar (West) here was the chief guest of the occasion, distributed the scholarship to 106 students who are the children of Bank employees.
Speaking on the occasion, Fr Felix said, ‘At my student days, it was a great privilege to get scholarship. The scholarship amount was not significant but being qualified is what mattered. The education lays strong foundation for future life. One who gets proper schooling will be able to create a niche for himself, said Fr Felix.
Albert in his presidential address said that the students of modern times got to lay emphasis on quality education and embody the social concern. The distribution of scholarship aims to motive the students to excel in studies.
The Bank deputy chairman William Sequeira, directors Prem Aranha, Professor A P D’Souza, Lazarus Menezes, Paul Nazareth, Philip L S Pinto, Benedicta Rebello, Mariette D’Mello and Thomas Lobo were present at the dais.
Albert felicitated Maharashtra state minority Commission deputy chairperson Janet Lawrence D’ Souza on the same occasion.
The additional chief general manager Herald M Serrao and branch managers of different branches were also present.
The Bank CEO and chief general manager Francis J A Vaz introduced the dignitaries. Edward Rasquinha compered the programme. William L D’Souza proposed vote of thanks.
