The most glittering part of the day was when the torch was carried by the National Level Swimmer Vaishnav Hegde accompanied by the other sportspersons of the college.

Speaking on the occasion, Everest said, ‘The place which has more playgrounds has less number of hospitals. We should make fitness as our culture. Now-a-days, we see the youngsters suffering from asthama, knee pain and lower-back ache. It is mainly because they have become very inactive in their life style. Any education is incomplete without sports and games. It will help in enhancing the children’s mental and physical growth.’

Professor Leo said, ‘The three important things to be a good sportsperson is discipline, ethics of the games and physical fitness.’ He encouraged the athletes to lift their performance by several notches.

Fr Monteiro in his presidential address said, ‘Difficulties make us strong. Ground is the best place where we are formed.  Remembering the sportsperson who have made our college proud with their extraordinary performances in district, state, national and international level, he called upon the students to shine in the world of sports.’ He concluded by saying winning or losing is secondary, what matters at the end of the day is the satisfaction within of giving our best.
