Udupi: Student from Sharada Residential School Goes Missing
Udupi, 19 Nov 2014: An 8th Standard student from Sharada Residential School in Kunjibettu Kadiyali has gone missing since November 15. The incident has been reported in the town police station here on November 19.
The missing student is Eshika Shetty (13), daughter of Yashodha and Shekar Shetty from Elinje Kinnigoli. Eshika has been pursuing her education in the Sharada Residential School and staying in the school hostel, in Kunjibettu. Yashodha and Shekar Shetty are working in Muscat.
Speaking to media Eshika’s mother Yashodha said, "On November 15, I had called my daughter but her mobile was switched off. I was a bit concerned therefore called the hostel staff in the evening but there was no proper response from them. When I asked them whether I should come down to Udupi, they said that they would let me know. I was worried and made up my mind to fly back home, I reached Udupi on November 19".
Many residents of Kinnigoli arrived at the school by bus and staged a protest in front of the school.
According to sources, on November 15, there was a sports meet in the school. Eshika was present at the meet in the morning but in the evening she did not return to the hostel. The school authorities filed a missing person’s complaint in the town police station but the news did not appear on the police blog nor did it reach the media.
As soon as the mother reached Kinnigoli she came along with the locals to Sharada Residential school and met the Headmaster Vidyavant Acharya.
Sub Inspector of town police station Madhu reached the school and gathered all the information about Eshika, Now a search is on for Eshika. CCTV cameras have been installed on the school premises.
