Karkal: Kasargod Chinna rejuvenated Konkani by Ghar Ghar Konkani program - Roy Castelino

Karkal, Nov 17, 2014: Kasargod Chinna, past president of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy had taken the Academy to the doorsteps of Konkani-speaking communities by launching innovative programme – Ghar Ghar Konkani that has rejuvenated Konkani traditions and customs, folklore when the Konkans were disregarding the same with the lure for western culture, said Roy Castelino, president of Karnataka Konkasni Sahitya Academy.
Roy was the chief guest speaking during one-hundred programme of Ghar Ghar Konkani that was held at the residence of Mangilar Gokuldas Nayak, Hirgana, near here on Sunday November 17.
Kasargod Chinna after inaugurating the programme said that Konkani is the greatest asset handed down by the ancestors, while the new generations of Konkans are expected to enrich by staging Yakshagana, drams, speeches, literature etc. He also thanked all those who helped him during Ghar Ghar Konkani programmes among 42 groups of Konkani speaking communities across Karnataka.
Vedamurti Chempi Ramachandra Bhat in his introductory address lauded the splendor of Konkani.
Udupi ZP past president and RSB community leader Upendra nayak presided the programme.
Konkaani Gourav award was conferred on RSB community veteran Narayan Gavalkar and Adishakti Mahalaxmi temple managing trustee Jagdish Nayak on the same occasion.
Konkani Vibhushan award was presented to Om Ganesh Uppunda, Mahesh Takoor Parkala, Sasibhushan Kini Manipal, Chidanand Bhandary Kumta, Sandesh Javali Teertahalli, Ramanat Mesta Shiroor, Vanod Gangolli, Ashok Shet Mangalore, Narasimha Kini Udupi, Subash Kamat Karkal, Panduranga Madivala Gangolli, Madhav Shet Ambagilu, Ashok Nayak Hirgana, Usha Nayak Karkal, Deepali Kambadakone and Devdas Nayak Mangilar for their contributions to Konkani and its literature.
Kudal Devasta Adya Gowda Brahman Vedike – Suresh Prabhu, Udupi – Puttur Laxmi Venkatesh temple managing trustee Vasant Nayak, GSB Hitarakshana Vedike district convener Vivekanand Shenoy, Kukkundoor gram panchayat president Antony D’Souza, Kodiala Kabar – Konkani bulletin editor Venkatesh Baliga Mangalore were the chief guests present.
Over 500 people representing over 15 Konkani groups participated in the programme.
Mangilar Gokuldas Nayak welcomed the gathering. Chetana G Nayak, Nagaveni Nayak and Ujwala Nayak rendered the prayers. Gourav Nayak proposed vote of thanks. Om Ganesh and Chidanand Bhandary compered the programme.
Variety Konkani cultural shows were presented on the occasion.
