Bangalore: Coastal Karnataka ministers seek more funds to compensate areca farmers

Bangalore, 07 Nov 2014: The state forests and DK district-in-charge minister B Ramanat Rai, minister U T Khader, minister Vinayakumar Sorake and minister Abayachandra Jain met CM Siddaramaiah here on Friday November 6, to release Rs 4 crore in order to distribute compensation to furthermore areca farmers who are affected by the rotten disease in their plantations.
The state administration had sanctioned compensation for the areca farmers affected by rotten disease in DK district in the preceding year.
