Mangalore, Oct 30, 2014: Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel paid a visit to Blessed Joseph Vas Hill Shrine at Mudipu, here on Wednesday October 29.
Pope Francis will beatify Blessed Joseph Vaz as saint in Sri Lanka during January 2015. A three-day celebration is being planned to be held at the Hill Shrine, Mudipu here, in order to commemorate the historical event. Goan zealous missionary Blessed Joseph Vas had served as parish priest of Our Lady of Mercy parish at Paneer, about 5 kilometers from Hill Shrine at Mudipu. He has left behind his knee-print at the Hill Shrine when his perpetrators tried to kill him, when they took him in the pretext of administering sacrament to a sick. The knee-print has been preserved along with stream that sprang from nowhere in the hillock. It has been preserved as testimony to miraculous powers of Blessed Joseph Vaz.
The Hill Shrine director Fr Gregory D’Souza welcomed MP Nalin who assured all possible assistance towards the development of Hill Shrine.
