Mangalore: Kankanady Market Merchants involve in Swachh Bharat Canpaign

Mangalore, Oct 29, 2014: The civic authorities in collaboration with Kankanady Market Shopkeepers Association carried out cleanliness drive at Kankanady Market, here on Wednesday October 29 morning, to involve themselves in PM’s Swachh Bharat campaign. They cleaned the wild vegetation besides the access road to the market and its periphery.

 

The civic environmental engineer Madhu S M, municipal health officer Dr Manjayya Shetty, municipal commissioner Gokuldas Nayak, local corporator Naveen D’Souza, Kankanady Market Merchants Association president Ali Hassan, secretary Roshan Patrao and shop owners joined hands in cleaning the area.

 

 

Speaking to media persons, the municipal commissioner Gokuldas Nayak said, ‘After the launch of Swachh Bharat campaign by PM Narendra Modi, the civic body is joining hands with organizations in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in public areas. The mayor Mahabala Marla launched Swachh Bharat campaign on October 2 which will go on till November 25. We dedicate each day to clean a specific area across the city,’ said Gokuldas.
