Mangalore: Pingara announces Rajyotsav award to Manasa Rehabilitation Centre, Pamboor

Mangalore, Oct 28, 2014: Pingara – Kannada weekly announced Rajyotsav Award – 2014 to confer on Manasa Rehabilitation Centre, Catholic Sabha Mangalore and Udupi diocesan project based at Pamboor, Shankakpura in Udupi district.

 

Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Roy Castelino announced this during the media conference held at Hotel Woodlands here on Tuesday October 28.

 

Roy said, ‘The service rendered by the Manasa Rehabilitation Centre towards rehabilitating the differently-abled kids is exceptional. They are trained to become a normal human being and many of them have been working in various professions in our society,’ said Roy.

 

 

Along with the life skills, Manasa Rehabilitation Centre made Indian tri-colour shine in the Special Olympics in 2007 and 2013 which is the testimony of their yeomen service to differently-abled children, added Roy.

 

The Centre has 160 students who are given the special attention required.

 

The Award will be conferred during the function scheduled to be held at Don Bosco Hall, here onTuesday November 11.

 

Bishop Dr Aloysius P D’Souza of Mangalore will present the award here on Tuesday November 11.

 

Al Haj Twaqa Ahmed Moulavi Kaziyatakam will be the chief guest of the occasion.

 

The state minister Abayachandra Jain, MLA J R Lobo, MLC Ivan D’Souza and Alvas Education Foundation chairman Dr M Mohan Alva will attend the programme.

 

Valenica parish priest Fr James D’Souza will inaugurate the programme.

 

The selection Committee comprised Harikrishna Punaroor, Fr William Menezes, Rohan Monteiro, Dr B G Suvarna, Elias Fernandes, C G Pinto, Srikar Prabhu and Ramakrishna R.

 

Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh® president Elroy Kiran Crasta and Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh® president Flavy D’Souza were present.

 

Pingara – Kannada Weekly editor and publisher Raymond D’Cunha said that Pingara Rajyotsava Award will have no cash prize. ‘Instead of cash prize, we are going to promote Manasa Rehabilitation Centre for 1 year and we will get donors for the centre,’ said Raymond.

 

Raymond welcomed the gathering.

A most welcome decision and MANASA deserves this kind of recognitions and appreciations. They are doing a noble work in a veru rural village/place. I congratulate manasa, Pambur-Shanthipura and praise the Lord for this excellent recognition.
