Bantwal: B C Road - Service Road poses nightmare for motorists bcoz of huge potholes

Bantwal, Oct 28, 2014: It’s indeed a narrow service road that has been covered with potholes nearly half of it. Yes! One has to get a separate permit and driving license from National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to drive on the service road at BC Road, mock the daily motorists. It’s a fact that the large potholes indeed a nightmare to motorists, because a little slip of concentration would pose threat to lives of motorists, because of huge potholes on this stretch of this road. Despite this, the NHAI officials and elected representatives are keeping mum that raises suspicions among locals.

 

The service road at BC Road that was laid 2 years ago is the testimony for shoddy works that has huge potholes welcomes the motorists. The passenger buses and heavy vehicles plough through these potholes threatening the elderly passengers of spinal fractures.

 

 

The potholes are growing in size creating pool during rains, while the unwary motorists get nightmares of running into it. Several motorcyclists have succumbed to injuries while negotiating into these potholes. In spite of this, the NHAI officials have not woken up from their deep slumber to restore the vital service road.

 

Mangalore – Bangation NH 75 has become a death-knell because of potholes along the highway. The traffic snarls are common on NH 75 from BC Road to Mani. The police and highway officials are urged to take early actions in this regard.

 

Three-kilometer stretch of BC Road – Kaikamba – Melkar Road has major potholes, wherein the motorists have to go zigzags around potholes to save themselves from spinal injuries. Meanwhile, the locals and daily road users are trying to close the potholes by dumping stones on the potholes.  Although its temporary measure, the locals await for permanent solution for BC Road.
