Mumbai: RPI (A) seeks CID probe on Dalit killings in Pathardi taluk

Mumbai, 26 Oct 2014: Maharashtra Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao here on Saturday October 25 asked the state Director General of Police (DGP) Sanjeev Dayal to appoint a Special Task Force to probe the incident of brutal killing of 3 members of a Dalit family at village Javkheda in Pathardi taluk of Ahmednagar district four days ago.
 
The Governor spoke to the DGP Sanjeev over the telephone soon after meeting a delegation of Republican Party of India (Athawale) RPI (A) leaders at Raj Bhavan, here. The Governor said that the incident was an act of gross cruelty and cannot be tolerated.
 
He told the delegation that a compensation of Rs 3.75 lac has been disbursed to the family members of the deceased family early today. The Governor further announced that he will soon be convening a high level meeting to review all the cases of atrocities against the Dalits in the state and effective implementation of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

 

 
The twenty–member delegation of RPI (A) led by national president Ramdas Athawale met the Governor and demanded a CID enquiry into the Javkheda Dalit killing incident. Complaining that even after 4 days of the incident, the police made no arrests.  Athawale demanded immediate arrest of the persons who murdered Sanjay Jadhav, Jayashree Jadhav and Sunil Jadhav.
 
Mentiniong that the present case is fourth major incident of atrocity against Dalits in the Ahmednagar district, he demanded that the entire Ahmednagar be declared of atrocity-prone district. He further demanded a compensation of Rs 15 lac to the family of the victim.
 
The former principal secretary to the government Uttam Khobragade, former police officer P K Jain and office bearers of RPI (A) were present.
