Mumbai: Acting is medium of expression - G P Basavaraju

Mumbai, 19 Oct 2014: The renowned Kannada litterateur and journalist G P Basavaraju delivered a special lecture on ‘Our language and our literature’ during Sahitya Chintana – 2-14 programme organized by Karnataka Sangh® at their Samarasa Bhavan, Mahim (West) here on Saturday October 18.
Karnataka Sahitya Academy book award winner Basavaraju in his lecture said that the language loses its significance when one has none to speak in ones mother tongue. Ones ego gets affected without knowing the language of that land. Therefore, the belongingness lies in ones mother tongue. Ones self confidence gets a boost with mother tongue. The natives of Karnataka settled in Mumbai are multi-linguals. All languages have significance. If the signs are treated as body language, camera that captures the scenes become its media of expression, said Basavaraju.
Karnataka Sangh president Prakash G Burde in his introductory address said that Mumbaikars have close relations with their language, culture and literature. Mumbaikars are eager to learn more languages to foster relations that has contributed for the growth of many languages, said Prakash.
Karnataka Sangh former president M M Kori, former vice president Dr Bharat Kumar Polipu felicitated Basavaraj on the same occasion.
B G Nayak, Somanat Karkera, S K Bhavani and others shared their views.
