Mangalore, 17 Oct 2014: The activists of Bajrangdal and Vishwa Hindu Parishat (VHP) jointly staged protest in front of Kavoor police station here on Friday October 17, to condemn the assault on their key activist Charan by the police and demanded the immediate suspension of sub-inspector Umesh Kumar who is responsible for the assault.

The activists of both communal outfits arrived at Kavoor police station here on Friday morning and created chaos for sometime, tried to enter the police station by pushing the barricades. The unrest in front of the police station also caused traffic disruption as the protesters squatted on the road linking Derebail and Kavoor.

Speaking to the media persons VHP district president Jagdish Shenava said that Bajrangdal activist Charan from Moodushedde was assaulted by the sub-inspector of Kavoor police station on October 8. Jagdish demanded the sub-inspector Umesh and other police constables who assaulted Charan to be suspended from service. A complaint has been lodged against sub-inspector Umesh at Kavoor police station, but so far no action has been taken in this regard. The higher police officers have soft corner for sub-inspector Umesh and are not serious to take action against him, said Jagdish.

Jagdish cautioned that massive protest will be held on Saturday October 18 by blockading the roads. The women members of Hindu outfits will stage a sit-in in front of Kavoor police station. If the higher police officers does not take action against sub-inspector Umesh, Airport Road will be blocked and call for bandh in city, cautioned Jagdish.

Despite the activists raised slogans with abusive words and racist remarks, the police remained silent, giving tough time to the patience of the activists.

ASP Vishnuvardhan said that the investigations into the incident was conducted by Moodbidri police inspector Anantapadmanabha and refused to take any action until he gets the report. When asked about the continued stalemate in the case, Vishnuvardhan said that the police would try to amicably resolve the issue with the outfits.
