Mangalore, Oct 17, 2014: The State cabinet on Thursday has passed Rajiv Arogya Bhagya Scheme that is aimed at providing treatment at 70% discount for APL family members across the state, announced minister for health and family welfare UT Khader.
The minister said here that the specially designed scheme will be implemented through more than 100 empanelled hospitals across the state within 10 days. The scheme would cost the state exchequer nearly Rs 250 crore a year, he said.
"As of now, only BPL families get free treatment under various schemes. The new Rajiv Arogya Bhagya will provide respite for APL family members in the form of concession in treatment cost. While the state will pay 70% of the bill, the rest of the amount should be paid by the APL family members, who undergo treatment in empanelled hospitals. For the purpose, the government will fix a uniform rate chart including all treatment procedures for the selected hospitals," Khader said.
