Dubai: FIEO chairman Walter D’Souza to lead Indian Trade Delegation at India Expo

Dubai, Oct 14, 2014: Walter D’Souza, chairman of Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) and India Trade Centre, UAE, under the Indian union ministry of commerce has been nominated to lead the Indian delegation of over 100 exporters from all over India to the India Expo: Trade Exhibition and International Buyer-Seller Meet (BSM) here from Wednesday October 15 to Thursday October 16. Walter D’Souza is a prominent Mangalore based exporter of cashew.

 

Indian Ambassador to UAE T P Sitharam will inaugurate 2-day India Expo – 2014 here on Wednesday. 

 

Walter D’Souza will deliver the keynote address at the inaugural function. It is a focussed trade meet being organised by FIEO for the first time in UAE. The focus sectors being covered are: agricultural commodities, spices, processed food, wellness and beauty products, building and construction material, non leather footwear, printing and packaging, readymade garments, textiles, handloom and handicrafts, jute products, animal feed and IT solutions.

 

 

The Middle East Region in general and UAE in particular are being emerged as the most important destinations for the Indian merchandise exports registering the highest growth over the recent past few years. Bilateral trade between India and UAE has grown from US$ 43.46 billion in 2009-10 to over US$ 60 billion in 2013-14. India has thus emerged as UAE’s top trading partner in 2013, representing 10 percent share of the total foreign trade of the emirate. More importantly, Dubai is emerging as the most potential destination for re-exports to the entire Middle East and African continent.

 

At the India Expo Dubai, over 100 Indian exporters from various sectors will exhibit and show case the strength of their merchandise to over 350 registered importers from the entire Middle East and African region, besides Turkey and Pakistan. The Buyer-Seller Meet will facilitate one-to-one interactions for the Indian exporters and enhance the bilateral trade. It is expected that the India Expo will result in foreign trade in excess of US$ 20 billion.   

 

The consul general of India to UAE Anurag Bhushan will attend the valedictory event here on Thursday October 16.
