Sullia: Union Minister D V Sadanand Gowda’s mother passes away; Last Rites held at Mandekalu

Sullia, 12 Oct 2014: The last rites of the mother of union railway minister D V Sadananda Gowda was held at Devarakunda, here on Saturday October 11 at 3.00pm.

 

Thousands of people including her relatives and others witnessed the last rites being performed near their house in Mandekolu village, near here.

 
The union minister Sadananda Gowda arrived with his wife Dotty and son Karthik here at 10.00am and offered his last respect and participated in the funeral.

 
She has been survived by children Ratnavathi, D V Shivarama, minister D V Sadananda Gowda, D V Bhaskar and D V Suresh.


 
The legislative assembly former speaker K J Bopayya, former deputy speaker Yogish Bhat, MLAs S Angara and Dr Ashwathnarayan, former ministers Katta Subrahmanya Naidu and Krishna J Palemar, former MLAs Padmanabha Kottari and Mallika Prasad, Dakshina Kannada ZP president Asha Thimmappa, Kodagu district ZP president Sherine Subbayya, vice-president Beena Bollamma, BJP state vice-president Reena Prakash, Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim, SP Dr Sharanappa, BJP district president Pratapsimha Nayak, Kodagu district BJP president Suja Kushalappa, Udupi district BJP president Thingale Vikramarjuna Hegde, Kodagu ZP former president Ravi Kushalappa, S N Manmatha, Krishnaprasad Madthila, Kuntikana Laxmana Gowda, Mysore Railway zone manager Raj Kumarlal, railway security commandant Dr Chennamallikarjuna, Sullia Tahshildar Srinivas Shetty, Puttur DySP H D Mendonca and others offered their last respect.

 

Fr Rithesh Rodrigues offered his last respect on behalf of St Philomena College and Oswald Rodrigues offered last respect on behalf of St Philomena High School. Other officials offered their respects on behalf of their departments.

 

Speaking to media persons at Devarakunda, the union minister D V Sadananda Gowda said that his mother played a critical role for him and his brothers in politics, society and economic development.


‘Our family members are shocked and are grieving. The passing away of my mother and my sister Savitri Shivaram have increased the grief. The people have given me high position in the centre. I have to shoulder the responsibility in between the grief,’ said minister Sadananda.
