Puttur: Lecture on Indian agriculture: are we at crossroads? Held at St Philomena College

Puttur, Oct 02, 2014: The department of Economics of PG studies and Research Centre of St Philomena College here organised a guest lecture programme on the topic, Indian Agriculture: are we at the cross roads? here recently.
The resource person, Dr Sudhir Raj K, Professor of K S Hegde Institute of Management expressing his opinion said, ‘Agricultural sector has been denied its actual importance. It should be treated at par with the industry. In India agriculture is not just a source of our income but it is a part of our culture.’
Fr Prakash Monteiro, campus director and chairperson of PG studies and Research Centre of the College said, ‘Unless and until the agriculturist produces food grains, people can be fed. If they stop doing their work, any amount of money will not help us to fill our stomach. Therefore it is imperative that we respect the agriculture and the agriculturist.’
After the formal function a technical session was conducted for the students.
Professor Dinakara Rao, Pradeep K S and Sandhya were present for the programme.
The gathering was welcomed by Girish and vote of thanks was proposed by Bharath. Sowmya compered the programme.
