Bantwal: Students stage protest over issuing bail to youngster accused of indecent behavior

Bantwal, 01 Oct 2014: The general public and the students staged a massive protest at Siddakatte, near here on Wednesday October 1, opposing the bail issued by court to Siraj, son of Abbas, residing at Sangabettu, near here who was arrested by the police on charges of attempt to spoil the modesty of a girl student returning from college.
The shopkeepers drew shutters voluntarily in Siddakatte in support of protesters. The auto rickshaws went off road.
The state former minister B Nagaraj Shetty, BJP leader Rajesh Naik Ulepadyguttu, Tungappa Bangera, G Anand, Jagdish Adikari, Sulochana Bhat, ZP member Nalini Shetty, TP member Vasant Annalike, VHP district president Jitendra Kottari and others were present at the dais.
Hundreds of students including locals were present during the massive protest.
Judicial custody
The police once again presented Siraj in front of the judge who awarded judicial custody up till 15 days. The protest was called off when Bantwal circle inspector Belliyappa announced this.
Youngster arrested while taking pics on mobile
The protesters assaulted a youngster whilst taking pics of protest thereby created tense situation. The police intervened and took the youngster in their vehicle to the police station.
The security was beefed up at the location to avoid any law and order problem. ASP Rahul Kumar, circle inspector Belliyappa, town police sub inspector Nandakumkar, rural station sub inspector Nagaraj, Punjalkatte sub inspector Latesh Kumar and police personnel were present at the site.
