Nitte University Dr Indrani Karunasagar nominated jury member-UNESCO Int’l Life Science Prize

Mangalore, Oct 01, 2014: Dr Indrani Karunasagar, director (research and development), who is also the director of UNESCO Centre for Medical and Marine Biotechnology, Nitte University Centre for Science Education and Research, Mangalore was nominated by the director general of UNESCO as a jury member to the UNESCO–International Prize for Research in the Life Sciences for a period of 6 years.
The purpose of this Prize is to reward the projects and activities of individuals and groups for scientific research in the life sciences that lead to improving the quality of human life and carries a cash award of US $300000.
The Jury consists of five members of different nationalities representing, Arab region, Asia and Pacific region, Europe and North America region, Africa region, Latin America and the Caribbean region.
Dr Indrani Karunasagar is nominated from the Asia - Pacific region. She recently attended the first Jury meeting in UNESCO, Paris.
