Udupi: Reach state benefits to needy people; Minister Sorake

Udupi, Sep 29, 2014: The need of the hour is the social welfare organizations has to take the state benefits of heath related services to reach the poor, said state urban and district-in-charge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake.
The minister Sorake was speaking after distributing Manipal Konkani Health Cards, during the programme organized by Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh at Milagres parish auditorium, Kallianpur, here on Sunday September 27.
Christians have significantly contributed in health and education sphere, said minister Sorake. Everyone should be health conscious in consuming modest food instead of seeking medication after being affected by the diseases. Manipal Hospital has been helping the patients by subsidised medication, while the social welfare organizations had to take interest in reaching this benefit to the needy poor, said minister Sorake.
Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves inaugurated the silver jubilee celebration of Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Fr Gonsalves urged the Catholic Sabha members to create awareness in the society by mingling with multi-religious people to lead responsible lives.
Amar Umar, short story book authored by Catholic Sabha central Committee former president Dr Gerald Pinto released on the same occasion.
Manipal University registrar Dr G K Prabhu, Kallianpur – Milagres parish priest Fr Stany B Lobo, Catholic Sabha central Committee president Elroy Kiran Crasta, secretary Mary D’Souza, the local unit president Felcy Lewis, central Committee former president Alphonse D’Costa, Walter Cyril Pinto, Albert D’Souza, Eric Gonsalves, Louis D’Almeida, Allen D’Souza, ZP member Ida Gilbert D’Souza, TP member Roshani Olivera, Xavier D’Mello, Dr Sripati Shet, Vivian Cornelio were present.
