Bantwal, Sep 23, 2014: The fluctuations in market rates of farm produce indeed threatened the lives of peasants. The farmers are uncertain of their future due to fluctuations in prices and changing the crop in lure high prices. The government is expected to come to the rescue of farmers by stabilizing the prices of farm produce, said SCDCC Bank chairman M N Rajendra Kumar.
Rajendra was speaking after inaugurating eighty-third branch of SCDCC Bank at A S Complex, Kanyana, near here on Monday September 22.
‘If the prices of arecanut and rubber are stabilized; it would be much beneficial to the farmers than waiver of loans and advances on low interest rate, said Rajendra. He advised the government to have serious thought in this regard. He further said, ‘I am not solely responsible for the growth of SCDCC Bank. It has been achieved by the efficiency of Board of Directors, bank officers, its loyal customers and members of self-help-groups,’ said Rajendra.
A total of 1,500 new accounts were opened and Rs 13 crore deposits were accepted at the newly-opened branch on inaugural day itself.
Karopady Agricultural Co-operative Bank president B Vigneshwar Bhat Aniyalakody inaugurated the computer facility at the new branch.
Karopady gram panchayat president A Abdul Jaleel handed the first deposit certificate to the new customer.
Nyana school governing council president K Radhakrishna, Kanyana – Bharata Sevashram® secretary S Eshwar Bhat, building owner Suresh Banari, SCDCC Bank director Raghuram Shetty, Sadashiv Ullal, general manager Umesh Gowda, branch manager Lata Amaranat and others were present.
The bank director T G Rajaram Bhat welcomed the gathering. Sasikumar Rai proposed vote of thanks. Ganesh Nirpaje compered the programme.
