Karkal: Belman School students explore cuisine creativity

Karkal, 20 Sep 2014: The students of St Joseph’s English Medium School, Belman, near here were enthusiastic on Saturday September 20 afternoon. The teachers organized special competition for the students. The students were divided into 9 groups and assigned one student as each group leader. Each group was free to prepare different delicacies without using fire. The winners were presented with prizes!
Each group were ready for the competitions by making elaborate preparations. Each group prepared 8 to 18 varieties of snacks and beverages in 1 hour duration and were awaiting results.
Lemon juice, apple juice, orange juice, almond milk, pepper juice, cold coffee, Tang juice, birinda juice, yoghurt, butter milk, mango juice… the list goes on. The spicy puffed rice, sweet beaten rice, cucumber masala, tomato salad, mixed vegetable salad, sprouted grains, etc, sandwich, etc and etc were prepared by the group. The group leaders Roshan D’Souza, Preetam, Akash, Glarron, Avinash, Prastan, Ashwit, Vishal, Kishan and others actively participated in the competition.
Belman assistant parish priest Fr J B Moras, Bro Arun D’Souza, the local convent superior Sr Usha Stella, primary school head teacher Sr Monica, high school head teacher Renilda Pereira, Anita Kamalini, senior teacher B Pundalika Marate, Vincent Pinto, Lilly D’Souza were the jurors.
The teachers tasted the delicacies prepared by the students. The competitions proved that the practical aspect of life helps students to excel along with studies.
The English medium school head teacher Janet D’Souza, Gayatri Bhat, Nisha Devadiga, Supreeta D Paul, Precilla Fernandes, Sunand Putran were present.
Akshan Putran group bagged overall trophy. Roshan D’Souza group (first), Avin group (second) and Vishal group (third).
