M’lore: Commotion over suspicious item at city airport turned out to be tab & hydrogen peroxid

Mangalore, 14 Sep 2014: The passengers at the city airport faced some tense moments here on Saturday September 13, when a parcel that was found in a suspicious state. However, the parcel suspected to be explosive material the actually ‘hydrogen peroxide’ used for the cleaning purposes and along with it was found a tablet.
The tab that was handed over to the Dubai-bound passenger Mohammed Abdul Khader, by his neighbour was meant for repair in Dubai. And this put an end to the drama unfolded at city’s international airport on Saturday night.
The sources informed that Khader was returning to Dubai after getting married, a-month ago. The women who handed over the parcel had forgotten to inform Khader about the tab kept along with the food items. Meanwhile, Khader informed the same to the airport officials when questioned. When the officials further questioning Khader, the lady who gave the parcel also arrived and explained the situation. She said that the battery of the tab had expanded and it could not be repaired here due to warranty issues. She had placed it in the food package and forgot to inform about the same to Khader, she said.
It is learned that the bomb detection squad is yet to arrive from Bangalore, and hence there is no official word on the matter yet.
Khader hails from Periya - Uppala in Kasargod district of Kerala. He had booked the late night Jet Airways ticket to Dubai.
