Udupi: Diocesan level workshop on the rights of children and good administration inaugurated

Udupi, 12 Sep 2014: The Catholic Education Society of Udupi (CESU) organized a two days long workshop on the theme of ‘Rights of Children and Best Administration’ beginning from Friday, 12 September 2014 in the conference hall in the Bishop’s office, Uudpi.
Inaugurating the workshop, Bishop Rev. Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo said that the Christian Educational Institutions have made their name in providing quality education throughout the country. Further he said that though the Christian institutions are known for the best education, there is a lot of scope to improve the administrative quality of these institutions. It is important that value based education should be the aim of the Christian educational institutions.
Msgr. Baptist Menezes, Vicar General of Udupi Diocese who was the chief guest of the inaugural function said that a teacher has an important position in the society. Every teacher puts in hard work to achieve that position. Besides inculcating good values to the students through education, it is important that a teacher should try to guide a student to be a good citizen of the country. When teachers are affectionate towards the students, they automatically earn the respect due to them from their students.
Rev. Fr. Eugene Lobo S.J., Secretary of the Education Commission of Karnataka Jesuit Province, Bangalore in his introductory remarks highlighted the importance and need of such workshops for the teachers and administrators.
Robinson D’Souza, former Law Secretary of the Karnataka State Government conducted the workshop on the rights of the children and sexual harassment. Vincent Concesso, former Assistant Labour Commissioner spoke on administrative laws.
Rev. Fr. Valerian Mendonca, Chancellor of the Udupi Diocese and Rev. Fr. Frederick Mascarenhas, former Principal of Milagres College, Kallianpur and presently Parish priest of Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi were present.
Secretary of CESU, Rev. Fr. Clement Mascarenhas welcomed the gathering, Ms. Joyce D’Sa, Headmistress of St. Mary’s School, Uudpi proposed the vote of thanks and Prof. Vincent Alva compeered the programme.
