Bantwal, 12 Sep 2014: The tense situation prevailed at B C Road here on Thursday September 11, when auto rickshaw drivers had tussle with the police over shifting petty shops and shunting auto rickshaw stand.
The town crime department sub-inspector Chandrashekarayya fined a few auto rickshaw drivers for parking their vehicles above the limit at B C Road that is always facing traffic bottleneck, as per the directives of town council. This has led to flash strike by all auto rickshaw drivers who later resolved the issue at the police station. Meanwhile, Chandrashekarayya cautioned the auto rickshaw drivers that he is forced to take stern action if they create traffic problems by haphazard parking.
The auto rickshaw drivers in large numbers rushed to town council and urged chief officer Leena Britto to identify a suitable parking area for their vehicles. Leena said that signboards will be installed in a few days. She assured that a permanent solution to their issue will be taken during the coming general body meeting of town council, assured Leena.
