M’lore: ZP Prez advises officials to provide Ration Cards related info to village councils

Mangalore, 12 Sep 2014: The zilla panchayat president Asha Timmappa Gowda advised the department officials to provide all info related to suspension of ration cards, linkage of EPIC and Aadhaar Card etc to all village councils.
 
Asha was speaking during district level KDP progress review monthly meeting held at zilla panchayat auditorium, here on Thursday September 11.
 
Asha further said, ‘There is confusion over suspending ration cards for not providing EPIC and Aadhaar card info.  The people are complaining to their representatives in their respective wards in this regard, said Asha.   She advised the food and civil supplies department officials in order dispatch the government directives to all village councils.
 
The food and civil supplies department deputy director Sharana Basappa in his reply said that the government has extended the provision to provide EPIC and Aadhaar card numbers till September 30.  If the people whose ration cards are under suspension will be reactivated once they provide the info of their respective EPIC and Aadhaar cards, said Basappa.
 
Asha advised the district Industrial Centre officers to carefully review the applications that are submitted seeking financial assistance to set up new industries and manufacturing units, because there are likelihood that the earlier beneficiaries have applied in the name of their extended family.

 

 
 
Asha also advised excise department officials to take stern action on grocery shopkeepers whoare  illegally selling liquor in shops in rural villages based on several complaints received from women during their council meetings.  ‘The bars and wine shops will have to be shut at scheduled time,’ said Asha.
 
The zilla panchayat vice president Satish Kumpala urged to convene meetings to review zilla panchayat development programmes, at the leadership of each TP presidents, vice presidents and CEO.
 
Satish further advised deputy director of public instructions in order to make a list of schools that require repairs.  He also urged labor department to embark on mass awareness programme on state facilities to unorganized sector employees in each village council as not many have really availed the facilities.
 
The zilla panchayat CEO Tulasi Maddineni said that there lies a greater need to have long term plans for efficient drinking water supply in rural villages across Dakshina Kannada district. Tulasi advised zilla panchayat engineering section to explore the scope to erect vented dam across Netravati river in this regard.  She also instructed all department heads to prepare the report of pending files by September 21.   
 
The zilla panchayat steering Committee president Balakrishnaq Suvarna, K Meenakshi and C K Chandrakala were present.
