Mangalore, Sep 09, 2014: Urging the state government to hand over the ESI hospital to the central government, President of Akhila Bharath Karmikara Sangha, Sudatta Jain Shirtady will stage indefinite hunger strike from September 24, in front of the DC’s office in the city.
Mr Jain addressing the reporters in the city said that most of the elected representatives are least bothered about the health facilities available to the labourers and the working classes. Though the ESI hospitals are supposed to extend good health care facilties to the workers, the negligence of the authorities has left the ESI hospitals in sorry state. "Even the new rules made by the state government are framed in a way to keep the labourers away from the ESI hospitals," he said.
Taking a dig at the State Health Minister U T Khader, Mr Jain said that despite Mr Khader hailing from the district he has not paid any attention towards the problems existing in the ESI hospital, which is facing shortage of doctors including several other problems.
"As of now handing over the hospital to central government is the only solution. We have proposed the same before the state government several times but our pleas have fallen on deaf ears.Hence, we are staging the stir on September 24," he said.
District Chief Hareesh KJumar Shetty among others were present.
