Mangalore: Moral Values should be imparted to students with education: RV Deshpande

Mangalore, Sept 09, 2014: The Tourism and Higher Education minister of Karnataka RV Deshapande has said that the teachers should impart moral values in students along with education for the overall development.
He was addressing the lecturers of various colleges in the district in his inaugural speech in the training program for teachers held in the Ramkrishna Mutt near Mangala Devi Temple today.
He said “Due to the growth in technology the world has become a small village. Any happenings in any part of the world could be known in a fraction of a second. But what about the moral values.? We have failed to impart moral values along with the education and due to which the educated ones are indulging themselves into anti social activities. Hence there the responsibly of the teachers has increased.”
“The teachers should mould the youth as the asset of the nation. They are like the torchlight who lead the youth away from the darkness. India will be the future super power in next few years because of the increasing number of youngsters and hence the teachers have a key role to play”
The Vice chancellor of the Mangalore University K Bhairappa who spoke on the occasion said“ teachers write the future of the country. The best teacher is the one who teaches from heart but not from the books. India will become a superpower if the teachers imbibe the five ‘D’ in today’s young generation namely Dedication, Devotion, Direction, Determination and Decision.”
The chief of the Mysore Ramakrishna Ashram Swami Muktidanandji Maharaj who rendered the key note address said “A teacher represents the internal knowledge army of the country. He has to be the reason of intellectual transformation of the student. ‘As you sow, you Reep’. Hence the teachers has to imbibe good values in his life first.”
MLA of Mangalore South Constituency JR Lobo, Scientist Dr. S Vishwanath, Swami Sarvapriyanandaji were among the present at the occasion.
The training program under the names called Prajna, Shradha and Medha was organized for the Lecturers, The Post graduate students and The B. Ed. Students respectively was by the Mutt to introduce better teaching methods in the present and the future teachers.
