Mangalore: Konkani Natak Bhandar, Repository of manuscripts of Konkani plays launched

Mangalore, Sept 02, 2014 : Konkani Natak Bhandar, a repository of manuscripts of Konkani plays was launched under the stewardship of Konkani Natak Sabha®, during a funcitn held at Don Bosco Hall, here on Sunday August 31. 

 

Konkani Natak Sabha® president Capuchin Fr Peter Cyprian D’Souzaa presided the programme here on Sunday.

 

Daijiworld Weekly editor Stephen Mascarenhas (Hemacharya) was the chief guest.

 

The renowned Konkani theater artiste Dolphy Cascia, Mandd Sobhann promoted Kalaakul – Konkani lone theater repertory instructor Neenasam Christopher D’Souza, Konkani Natak Sabha® vice president Dolphy Saldanha, Vgeneral secretary Sunil Menezes were present on the dais.

 

The President and chief guest inaugurated Konkani Natak Bhandar by unlocking the wooden chest full of manuscripts of Konkani dramas and also by lighting the lamp.

 

 

Hemacharya lauded the Konkani Natak Sabha to start this project to preserve the manuscripts and make available them for presentation by dramatists/artistes at all times and to next generation as well.

 

Fr Cyprian D’Souza appreciated the efforts of Committee formed by the Konkani Natak Sabha® to start this repository. ‘My wish is that more Konkani plays should come up for presentation with the help of this Konkani Natak Bhandar,’ said Fr Cyprian.

 

Dolphy Cascia spoke about conventional dramas and shared his experience in the field of Konkani dramas and Christopher D’Souza enlightened the gathering about contemporary plays.

 

The convener Felix Sequeira spoke about the aims and objectivess of the Konkani Natak Bhandar in his introductory address. Dolphy Saldanha welcomed the gathering while Sunil Menezes proposed vote of thanks. C G S Taccode compered the programme.

 

Many dramatists who were present offered their manuscripts to the repository.
