Moodubelle, Aug 30, 2014 : Children in their school uniforms carrying varieties of flowers with broad smiles made their way to the church, some of them along with their parents, to offer flowers to Infant Mary on the first day of Novena on Saturday, 30 August 2014, in preparation for the Monthi Festh (Nativity of Mother Mary) which will be celebrated on Monday 8 September 2014.
In St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle the Novena Mass was offered by Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes at 8.30 am. The school children themselves participated in the choir.
Following the end of the mass, the children followed by elders proceeded to the main altar and offered flowers to the image of Infant Mary. Thereafter, the children and elders assembled in the portico of the church around another statue of Infant Mary.
After the recitation of the Novena prayer by Rev. Fr. Roshan D’Souza, children showered flowers on the statue of Infant Mary to the accompaniment of the hymn “Moriyek Hogolshiyam...”
Sweets were distributed to children following the end of the Novena service and the school and college students proceeded to their respective institutions. The same procedure will be followed throughout the nine days of the Novena.
It is very nice to see small children carrying flowers, offering to infant Mary. Dear father make a line to distribute sweets to children. Today elder class children got more sweets, some of small children not get a single piece . So distribute sweet like communion line.
