Udupi: K.J. Philip of MESCOM, Moodubelle honoured on his retirement

Udupi, Aug 28, 2014 : K.J. Philip, First Class Mechanic of MESCOM, Moodubelle who has been rendering selfless service to the villagers of Moodubelle and Kattingeri since the last 27 years was honoured by the Belle Grama Panchayat and villagers in anticipation of his retirement from 1 September 2014. The send off function was held in the Geeta Mandir on Thursday, 28 August 2014 at 10.30 am.

 

The felicitation programme in honour of K.J. Philip and his wife Tressimma was presided over by Rajendra Shetty-President of Belle Grama Pnchayat. Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes-Parish Priest of Moodubelle, Mrs. Ida Gibba D’Souza-memebr of the udupi Zilla Panchayat, Mrs. Jacintha D’Souza-Vice President of Belle Grama Panchayat, Devdas Hebbar-memebr of the Udupi Taluk Panchayat, Uday Kumar-SO of MESCOM, Moodubelle and Alphonse K. Alva-Secretary of Karnataka State Licensed Electrical Contractors Association, Udupi District were on the dais along with K.J. Philp and his wife.

Following the introductory remarks and welcome by Devdas Hebbar, Alphonse K. Alva introduced K.J. Philip narrating his family and service background.

 

K.J. Philip and his wife were felicitated by draping them with shawl, garland and offering them fruits and memento by Rajendra Shetty, Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes and the dignitaries on the dais.

 

Speaking on this occasion, Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes said that since he was the parish priest of St. Lawrence Shrine at Attur-Karkala he has known Philip and after he came to Moodubelle, he came to know him more closely. He appreciated the selfless service rendered by Philip to the village since last 27 years and wished him well in his retired life.

 

Other speakers-Mrs. Ida Gibba D’Souza, Uday Kumar, Nagaraj Kamath and Rajendra Shetty echoed similar sentiments and spoke highly about the sincerity, promptness and dedication of Philip while working as the linesman and later as First Class Mechanic in MESCOM. He never shirked his responsibility and saw to it that the problems of the villagers in relation to the  supply of electricity to their residences or businesses were solved at the earliest. He rendered his service with a smile and endeared himself to the people of the village.

 

Besides his wife, his son Jomon, daughter Sowmya and sister, brother-in-law and nephew of Philp were present for the felicitation function.

 

Gerald Fernandes proposed the vote of thanks and Maxim D’Sa compeered the programme.

 

About K.J. Philip:

 

K.J. Philip was born on 14 August 1952 at kanjarthangal in Kerala as the third among 11 children, seven boys and four girls of K.C. Joseph and Annamma. The family migrated to Karnataka and since 59 years have been residing at Ajekar near Karkala.

 

Initially, Philip worked with Karnataka Electricity Board (KEB) on temporary basis for two years at Hebri and later on permanent basis for 7 years. He was transferred to Shirva where he served for 4 years. From Shirva he was transferred to Moodubelle where he completed 27 years of service and will be retiring from 1 September 2014.

 

Philip married Tressimma in 1976 and the couple was blessed with three children-two sons and one daughter. Eldest son-Jomon is working as male nurse in the A.J. Hospital, Mangalore; daughter Somya is serving as nurse in KMC Hospital, Manipal and youngest son Jobin is working as civil engineer in Bagalkot.

Waw Finally achhe din aa gaye !!. Need to see more these type of functions rather than toothless political functions in Moodubelle.

Good Job guys. This is what exactly we need to do recognizing our elderly people who done lot to the society and people. I must salute the person who took initiative of honoring Mr. Philip. Really brilliant.
