Konkani has a bright future - Leo Rodrigues conferring Kittall Youth Award 2014

He was addressing the gathering conferring  2014 Leo Rodrigues Kittall Youth Award on promising young writer Stany D Souza, popularly Stany Bela.

 

“I have been living in the Gulf for past 33 years, I never forgot my mother tongue and my love towards motherland never diminished. We speak Konkani at home and all my children speak fluent Konkani.  If we the parents are determined towards the growth of Konkani, the language will never perish nor come to an end. Kittall Youth award was instituted by NRI entrepreneur Leo Clevy Rodrigues to recognise young writers with potential, and carries a purse of Rs 10,000 and a citation.

 

 

Chief Guest , Editor-in-chief of daijiworld.com Walter Nandalike in his address said, "If we give financial support to young talented writers, they will feel more satisfied and happy with their efforts and with the award given to them. Senior writers and poets need to give their support to young talents and correct their mistakes."

 

He appreciated the hard work and efforts of Stany Bela and said he has seen his work from close quarters from the past four years as he is active member of Daiji Dubai Writers Forum.

 

Kittall Yuva Puroskar awardee Stany Bela expressed his gratefulness to Melvyn Rodrigues for his continued support. "I did not expect this award; since Kittall has chosen me I have great responsibility to live up to the expectations that come with this award."

 

On the occasion, the Special Issue of ’ARSO’  fortnightly of Kittall Group released by eminent Konkani and kannada scholar Rev. Fr. Prashanth Madtha.

 

Ths Isuue has 10 Short Stories, 10 Poems, 5 Essays, 5 Feature articles One Novelette. The issue has been priced for Rs.150/- and  available on book stalls.

 

On this occasion Community leader, entrepreneur and Kittall Advisory Board Member, Rohan Monteiro honored three eminent writes with Editors Choice Rewards.  Antony Barkur’s Okaal was chosen Best Short Story , Venkatesh Nayak’s Hey Deva chosen as the Best Poem and Tony Ferrose’s Mojya Tujya Udasantlem Doordarshan was chosen as Best Essay of year 2013.

 

Fr Prashanth Madtha delivered the annual lecture on the subject ’Society and We’ after the award ceremony.
