Mangalore, 15 Aug 2014 : The sixty-eighth Independence Day was celebrated at infant Jesus Shrine premises, Bikarnakatte, here on Friday August 15 morning.
Karnataka Konkani Sahity Academy president Roy Castelino hoisted the flag and thereafter addressing the gathering, he highlighted the fact that India is an emerging power in the world. In IT sectors or in the medical field, India has shown its caliber and within 5 years India will have an enormous youth power (youth bellow 45 years).
Roy further said that Indian constitution has given national status to 22 languages; therefore no one should be ashamed to speak their native languages that are included in the list of national languages. The Konkani community blends well in the society wherever they are planted, which promotes peace and harmony. The quality of losing oneself as salt or sugar in the food makes this community special one and this contributes highly to the concept ‘Unity in diversity’.
