Abu Dhabi: India Social & Culture Centre launches 2nd ISC UNB - UAE Open Squash Tourney

Abu Dhabi, Aug 14, 2014 : India Social and Cultural Centre (ISC) Abu Dhabi, the largest socio – cultural organization for the Indian community in the Middle East and Union National Bank, one of the leading banks in GCC hosted the 2nd  ISC UNB - UAE Open Squash Tournament 0 2014 at ISC stadium here on Tuesday August 12. MICCO and Galva Coat were the co-sponsors of the tourney.

 

ISC facilitates its members with badminton, squash, tennis, table tennis, snooker, swimming pool and with a high profile gymnasium. With a current strength of 2,300 members (8000 including dependants) and with its state-of-the-art building spanning over an area of 90,000 square feet, ISC, here is the largest recreational Centre in the Middle East for the Indian community and enjoys an atmosphere of harmony and goodwill.

 

 

This premier socio-cultural organization was established in 1967. The social services, cultural activities and sports have been incessant achievements throughout 47 years of its existence by associating the cultural diversities and traditions of UAE and India, being the main objective. The Centre by its own pride and dignity has always been recognized as a unique platform for all highly reputed corporate, wherein the benefits rewarded are mutually.

 

ISC honorary president D Natarajan, announced the launching of the ISC-UNB- 2nd UAE Open Squash Tournament - 2014. ISC had very successfully conducted the tournament last year which had received tremendous response and was a very successful event which saw a very high quality of squash being played. Taking the momentum forward, ISC is now organizing the Open Tournament which would become a benchmark for such tournaments in the UAE.

 

The squash section in ISC Abu Dhabi itself has strength of more than 500 members, utilizing the facility on a regular basis. The squash courts in ISC are of International Standards and proud to publicize them as one of the best in GCC. These courts are used every year for conducting some games of the Abu Dhabi Squash League organized by the Abu Dhabi Squash. The tournament is being conducted with the approval and guidance of UAESRA and Abu Dhabi Squash.

 

The tournament will commence from September 13 and will have total prizes worth UAE Dirham 30,000 including cash prizes. The tournament will have 5 categories – Super divsion, Division 1, Division 2, Division 3 and Ladies Division. The highlight of this privileged tournament is that it is open for all players around UAE without any restriction to their entries. ISC honorary sports secretary Mathew Varghese said, ‘We expect over 150 players to participate in the tournament including the top seeds in the country.’

 

The main objective of this tournament is to inspire the spirit of the game irrespective of nationalities and to bring them together at one and only India Social and Cultural Centre. ISC general secretary R Vinod said that the overall participation is expected to reveal a show worthy of excellent skills combined with high endurance levels, and the goal to attain the championship under the roof of ISC, Abu Dhabi. It is a great opportunity for all the squash lovers around UAE to witness this big sporting event.

 

The ISC-UNB Juniors’ Squash tournament is scheduled to be held in October 2014.

 

The meeting was chaired by ISC honorary president D Natarajan.

 

The honorary general secretary R Vinod, Ahmed Al Asbahi (Galva Coat),  honorary sports secretary Mathew  Varghese, honorary assistant sports secretary Noushad Noor Mohammed, section secretary Freddy Fernandes, the tournament co-ordinators Atul Dhariwal and Joy Jude Goveas were present.
