Thank you Dr. Eugine for the detailed information on Fr. Charles. We had a very good team in 1981-82 in Moodublle viz choir, CYM and Fr. Charles was a very active human being and motivated younger generation. With hard work and dedication, God has blessed him with several talents and today we are honoured to know that he is the National Director of YCS. We pray almighty God to give him courage, strength during his tenure and future endeavours. Wish you all the very best my friend.

Govt gave up administered price mechanism (PAM) for petrol and diesel. Yes. It was state-subsidized before? NO. The oil PSUs made trillion losses? Yes. Due to subsidy? No.
What are the facts?
At $76bbl crude oil price, as I write, at the pump, petrol costs Rs33 average in US. The oil refineries, distributors and pumps are owned by private companies. They are taxed too. Still prices are cheaper.
Why?
Because, our governments at center, state, district and city levels taxes several times! The tax component is larger than the cost of fuel. Then it calculates the subsidy on taxed price!
Any engineer/chemistry graduate can derive the material cost of petrol from crude oil of known grade at a refinery that operates at efficiency of global industry standard. Are our refineries efficient? barring few, mostly, NO.

Yet, this step will force us to change our wasteful ways. Fuel efficient cars will get a chance. Gas guzzlers will be phased out by owners.

The PC College has earned its reward of third place by smart teamwork. May this be the stepping stone for greater success in the coming year.

I further recommend that focus may also be placed on developing a rounded personality, with emphasis on teamwork. Indian curriculum, co-curriculum and extra-curriculum systems lay great stress on individual excellence. The world has moved on to interdependence. Hence, ability to assist as a team member and to lead as a team leader has great relevance.

Congratulations, fantastic achievement Saina Nehwal for hatrick wins of titles in the international Badminton competitions. She won the Indonesian Open just today. The whole nation is indeed proud of her achievements and wins after wins in this not-so-popular game of Badminton. What is rather astonishing is that this interesting an enjoybale Game of Feathers, does not get due recognition in our nation where the game of cricket is religion to all. Had it been the World cup or win in a Test or one-day series, in cricket, the whole team of 15 members will have been overwhelmingly felicitated and rewards worth crores would have been showered upon them. However, in the game of Badminton the one-woman army of Saina Nehwal, gets few accolades and rewards. Sadly, her feats dont even become the talk of the town unlike cricket which is talked about in trains, crowded markets etc. Also, same is the fate of another intelligent game called Chess. Very few people would have known about Vishwanathan Anand recently winning the World title, once again. And we never saw big functions and felicitations to honour him.

Congratulations Saina. The Nation is proud of you. I think Saina Nehwal is one of the best sport persons India has ever produced and she deserves all appreciation for the stupendous achievements. Let us encourage and provide all support so that she becomes World No. 1 soon. We hope the PM will also send an appreciation note to Saina, as he did for Indian cricket team winning Asia cup.

Congratulations Mrs. Jacintha Aranha and Mrs. Sujatha Suvarna. Only the wininig party members are pose on photo and this is not new , this system is followed since many years. As Mr. Philip said the Grama Panchayat by law should be non-partisan, the elected members should not be affiliated to any political party. But there is always a opposition! so i think this is the reason for only elected members are on picture! and this is not only in Belle Grama Panchayat and it is all over same procdure. And yes 11 members from one pary and other 9 from other party .Hopefully we can expect more developments by this party under the leadership of Mrs Jacintha Aranha than the earlier one .

A few second thoughts: 1. why are there only 11 people in the group photo? 2. Why did the 9 other elected members not in the photo? 3. The GP by law should be non-partisan; the elected members should not be affiliated to any political party. Is this the reality? If not, are these 11 in the photo belong to one party and the 9 to the other? 4. What is then the party controlling Belle GP now?

The market price of Rs14 a kilo is low relative to the cost of inputs and required returns to motivate farmers to continue with rice crops. As more land falls fallow or is converted to cash crops or for non-agricultural use, the price of rice should move up to restore balance. Till then, eat more rice to drive its price high enough to ensure its survival..:D

The fuel price rise coupled with food inflation make life of common man unbearable. The political leaders in Delhi do not know the ground realities. The subsidy should be stopped for everything, including the subsidized meal provided in the parliament canteen. Let the ministers pay the market rate for all that they gobble.
