I think it s great that the land was divided equally. In the end India is not about which religion rules what but about the people, no matter what their religion may be.

I do not appreciate the verdict as it is. The court was to pronounce judgment on the issues before it and they were not expected to dividing the property into three parts to 3 parties. The mattr before the court was to deide the title to property. If an historic centuries old matter could be adjudicated without the law of limitation applied? Is there according to law past, centuries old things could be undone?
The matter could only be resolved by understanding these points without being sentimental. God does not require mandir, masjid church or any of these it requires clean heart, respect for truth and justice. HE lives in the hearts of human beings. He does not need yourwealth, sacrifices etc at all. It is allmanmade things or ways.

A decade ago when huge structures of these hypermarkets were under construction most of us were laughing thinking who will come to shop here and the huge investment on it will go in loss. But these hypermarkets are fully packed with crowds especially during Thursday, Friday and Saturday. For a family it even becomes an place for outing, as some of these markets have all kinds of shops, restaurant, telephone service provider, post office, exchange and even cinema halls, thus everything under one roof.

Congratulations! Mangalore United Team for winning ‘KPL’ 2010. It is a fantastic achievement from a young and talented team. It was a pleasure to watch the live matches on Kannada channel “ udaya varthegalu”. more over It was a classic example how they manage to beat the two most experienced team like “ Davangere “in the semis and provident Bangalore in the final... It shows that if the team is united in achieving their goal then this is it…What a performance…We are all very proud of our “Mangalore United Team “.

The delay in completion of the building is perhaps politics between the Local BJP leaders. The MLA must be wanting to be Minister and then to place his name on the marble of the Building as Minister.
These leaders were claiming from roof top that Oct,2, 2008, Brahmavar taluk office will be inaugurated but no signs. Because of the dirty politics, rasons for funds are advanced. Even this D.C is not as effective as the previous one. All government works go slow but where they get graft things move. Revenue department under this D.c is moving very slow, except in conversion of lands where they get huge kick backs. The rate rose from Rs.400 to RS.1000 more and in certain area where as fees ARE THE SAME. Balance is to these hungry revenue offocers VA to D.C.
Revenue courts do not pronounce judgments even after Six months and the common opinion is that this D.C. is known for such delay.
Therefore it is alright even if the D.C. office building at Manipal end point is not completed, the officials are getting what they want. The public are also comffortable because to goto end poin is another difficult task. Without personal approach nothing moves and hence people s ordeal is reduced.

Weekly shopping during weekends or on the day off is surely fun at hypermarkets as we will have the luxury of time to go around with the trolley and choose our weekly need. Some of their offers are attractive too. But for any urgent need of one or two items during the week the nearby corner shop is preferred because we can fetch it quickly unlike drive to hypermarket, park the car at parking lot, walk inside the large hypermarket, and stand in the weighing queue and payment counter queue.

Philip Mudartha, Qatar
29/09/2010 14:02:38

When super/hyper markets began to open shop, many predicted that the ahmedkutty corner shops will disappear. Those prophets of doom were proven wrong: they survived by innovation. India is far complex a country than Qatar, so the retailers, street vendors and pheriwalas will survive too..

Good analysis of the relevance of hypermarket especially in Gulf countries. However, in countries like India, especially in large cities where many people depend on retail trading for their livelihood, big business houses have entered the reatail marketing in various day to day consumer items such as vegetables and fruits, thus endangering the livelihood of many petty retail traders.
