Udupi: Swacch Bharat! Katpady-Subashnagar state highway littered by garbage

Udupi, 19 Sep 2017: The nationwide campaign of cleanliness, Swacch Bharat is under way in country. The deputy commissioner of Udupi district envisions making the district free from garbage. The sensitization programmes to educate the masses on Swacch Bharat are being held in collaboration with local governance, schools/colleges and social/voluntary organizations. However, the educated and sensible people of the district are found to be dumping their garbage on the main roads with scant regard for Swacch Bharat campaign.

 

 

The stretch of railway cross road on Katpady – Subashnagar Road is littered with all sorts of garbage, with stray dogs fighting for their share causing nuisance to motorists.

 

Despite this, the local administration is in slumber. The mindset of the people is to get rid of their waste by dumping on roads. Gandhi Jayanti – the father of nation and crusader of Swacch Bharat is approaching on October 2 and hope the garbage littering the road is being cleared ahead of the celebration.
