Adani-UPCL grants Rs 1 crore under CSR for Belapu GP

Udupi, 20 Jun 2017: Adani owned UPCL, which is operating power plant in Yellur village, today declared CSR grant of Rs. 1 crore for village developments works at Belapu Village for the year 2017-18.

 

Dr Deviprasad Shetty, president of Belapu gram panchayat and UPCL’s joint president Kishore Alva mutually exchanged the Action Plan and the letter of Grant in the premises of Belapu grama panchayat. The action plan listed development works to be carried out in the villages of Belapu gram panchayat.

 

 

Dr Deviprasad welcomed the CSR activities being executed by Adani UPCL under the leadership of Kishore Alva. He told that UPCL, after taking over by Adani Group is giving importance for the village development works and has declared special grant under its CSR. He appreciated the way UPCL is executing the works based on the action plans submitted by the surrounding gram panchayats. He also said that none of the industries or companies have executed development works in the rural areas and Adani UPCL, by way of its massive CSR activities in the field of Education, Rural Infrastructure Development, Health, has created a revolution in the history of CSR.

 

Accepting the Kriya Yojane (Action Plan), Kishore Alva informed that UPCL has begun its CSR activities in Belapu Grama Panchayat with the set-up of Safe Drinking Water Unit and the Mobile Health Service. He told that it is proud that Adani UPCL is the neighbor of Belapu village, which has won the status of Model village in the Asian Country. He further told that Adani UPCL has declared a CSR grant of Rs 22.73 crore solely for the village development works in nearby 7 Grama Panchayats, for execution for a period of 3 years. Under this grant, Belapu Grama Panchayat has been declared a grant of Rs. 3 crores for a period of 3 years and during the year 2016-17, it has executed village development works worth Rs 70 lac. Developments to Crematorium, construction of Auto Rickshaw stand, concreting of Patel Road, Vinayanagar Ashraya Colony Road, developments to Malai Jumadi, developments to Jarandaya temple, developments to Janata Colony Road, Ayyappa Road, Badriya masjid development are few of the activities executed in the year 2016-17, he said.

 

Alva, further informed that the Action Plan contains the list of development works worth Rs. 1 crore and it would be taken-up soon by Adani UPCL for execution. In the near future, Adani UPCL would be planting trees as a part of HASIRU GRAAMA (Green Village) in the places identified by the gram panchayats, he saild. In addition to the execution of rural infrastructure development works worth Rs. 1 crore, Adani UPCL will also be continuing other CSR activities like Education Kits, Scholarships, Medical Grant, Safe Drinking Water, he added. Alva also told that with the expansion of UPCL project, there will be increase in the generation of fly ash and to utilize the same a Cement Grinding Unit would be set-up in the plant premises. The cement unit will create employment opportunity to the locals.

 

Kishore Alva informed that the action plan contained the works of concreting of Vinayanagar road, Vishwakarma Colony roads, Malamgoli road, Jarandaya road, Prasad Nagar road, Devegowda Layout road, construction of compound wall for Grama Panchayat Office, Developments to Badriya Masjid, Developments to Vishwakarma Samaja Mandir, Construction of Library, which Adani UPCL will soon take-up for execution.

 

During the occasion, the commitment letters for development of Badriya Masjid and Vishwakarma Mandir were handed over to their respective Administrative Officers. Medical aid to 2 patients, residing in Belapu village was also given during the occasion.

 

Shobha Bhat, vice president of Belapu gram panchayat, Sharat, Zaheer Ahmed, members of Panchayat, Ramesh, PDO, Girish Navada, AGM of UPCL, Ravi Jere, senior manager of UPCL, Vineet Anchan, Anudeep Poojary from Adani Foundation were present on the occasion.
