Thumbay vented-dam has 4.3 mtrs water; MLA Lobo instructs to dig borewells

Mangaluru, 15 Mar 2017: MLA J R Lobo instructed the civic officials to dig 33 borewells across the city, in order to supply drinking water to its residents.

 

 

Addressing the meeting of taskforce Committee at his office, Kadri, here on Tuesday, March 14, MLA Lobo instructed the civic officials to dig the borewells at the earliest as an alternative measure to supply drinking water, since the water flow in the vented dam at Thumbay, in Bantwal, the lifeline of Mangaluru city, has been receding threatening grave situation. He also advised to link the borewells to the main supply line to the city, temporarily disconnecting water supply from Thumbay and also source water from open wells in different households across the city.

 

Thumbay vented dam has 4.3 meters of water now, that forces the civic body to explore other sources. The water sourced from borewells and open wells, its rationing will make the citizens to use water judiciously and accustomed to it, added MLA Lobo.
