International Karate medalists felicitated at Belman

Karkala, 28 Sep 2016: Karate is no more mere martial art; instead gives one better control over ones body. Karate has history of over 2000 years. There lies greater need for the society and government should foster Karate, said Jaycees Club International (JCI) national trainer Rajendra Bhat K.  

 

Bhat was the chief guest during the felicitation programme of international Karate medal winners that was organized by Budokon Karate Martial Arts, Belman, here at the auditorium of Narayana Guru Samaja Seva Sangha, here on Sunday September 25.

 

 

Chaitra Yermal, Nivita Cardoza, Ranjit S Mundkoor and Mrunali S Shetty, medal winners of International Karate Championship held at Dubai, UAE, recently, and Karate classes organizer Yermal Ashok Salian, the senior teacher of Belman – Hosmar School, who was transferred to Barkoor were felicitated during the programme.

 

The financial assistance was distributed to the talented poor students on the same occasion.

 

B Pundalika Marate, senior teacher of St Joseph’s School, Belman, near here was the chief guest said that despite state administration instructed to compulsorily teach Karate to girl students at the school, it has not appointed any Karate coach or physical training instructors. The students who trained in Karate with the support of local donors, their parents competed in national and international championship thereby bringing laurels to the hometowns and the nation. The talented Indian Karate champions are capable of winning medals in Olympics if it’s included, said Marate.

 

The retired postal department auditor Ganapati Acharya presided the programme.

 

TP former member Xavier D’Mello, Karnataka state Karate teachers Association president Nityanand Kemmannu, senior Karate coach Raghupati Brahmavar, Padmanabha Mangaluru and Harish Belman, district secretary Lohitashwa, Sridar Byndoor, Ashok Salian and others were present.

 

Karate coach Satish Belman welcomed the gathering. Rajesh Belman compered the programme. Prashant Rao proposed vote of thanks.
