Udupi: 2-Day faculty development programme held at SMVITM, Bantakal

Udupi, 20 Jul 2016: Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology & Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, near here organized a two-day faculty development program- Vikasana for its faculty at the institute from July 18 to July 19. 

 

Dr B M Somayaji, retired Professor in chemistry, Poornaprajna College, here was the chief guest for the inaugural function of this program.

 

Ratnakumar, secretary of Shri Sode Vadiraja Mutt Education Trust® Udupi and Professor Dr Radheshyam, head of the department of civil engineering of SMVITM were present during the inaugural session.

 

 

Delivering his inaugural address, Dr Somayaji said that one can be inspired by other persons but to succeed in life one has to be self-motivated. He also stressed on being satisfied ourselves first. He also added some tips to the faculty members to be more enthusiastic, being empathetic, to recognize the smallest accomplishment of the students, and also to make sure that at the end of the class, students eyes will be glittered with satisfaction of gaining knowledge. He also said that, the ultimate satisfaction for a teacher is when his students excel in the professional field. He also highlighted the importance of Spiritual Quotient (SQ) along with Emotional Quotient (EQ) and Intelligent Quotient (IQ).

 

While delivering the presidential address, Ratnakumar appreciated the faculty members for their contribution in the previous year, requested to continue the same with the larger interest of institutional and personal growth. He also assured that the management will support the faculty and staff for all their good work.

 

Program began with the invocation by Aishwarya (department of mathematics). Professor Dr Radheshyam B gave overview about this program and welcomed the gathering. Professor Dr Balachandra Achar, head of department of ECE proposed vote of thanks. The program was compered by Venugopal Rao of department of computer science engineering.

 

On the first day, Professional Ethics, Towards Quality Education-NBA Prerequisites and Financial Management for Teachers were delivered by Dr B M Somayaji, Dr Sudarshan Rao K, (head of department of mechanical engineering - SMVITM) and Harish B (technical advisor to SMVITM) respectively. 

 

On the second day, Effective Knowledge Dissemination through Teaching Aids by P N Bhat, Best Teacher State Level Awardee-2015, Vidhyabodhini High School, Balila, Sullia taluk, Knowledge Sharing through Blogging by Professor Prithvi Loy Serrao, SJEC, Mangaluru and Tools for Self Enhancement by Dr Vasudeva and Vijayendra Bhat, SMVITM were held.
