Karkala: Physical Education Teachers play key role in nurturing athletics – Fr L D’Souza

Karkala, 04 Feb 2016: Several talented athletes from Karkala taluk made their mark in both state and national championship, mainly because of the concerted efforts of physical education teachers. There is no end for achievement. Meanwhile, if one discharges his/her duties to the best of abilities with all honesty, success would follow. The physical education teachers play key role in developing the sportsmanship of students, said Fr Lawrence B D’Souza, correspondent of St Joseph’s education institutions, Belman, near here.

 

Fr Lawrence was speaking during taluk level physical education teachers workshop that was organized jointly by public instructions department, the office of Karkala block education officer and taluk physical education teachers Association at St Joseph’s High School auditorium, Belman, near here on Tuesday February 2.

 

 

Lions Club – Belman president Vishwanat Patkar inaugurated the workshop here on Tuesday morning.

 

Taluk edcuation co-ordinating officer Babu Poojary, Udupi district physical education teachers Association president Manjunat Shetty, state PG education physical education teachers Association state president Ritesh Shetty Sooda, taluk high school headmasters Association president Prakash Rao Inna, high school head teacher Anita Kamaline, physical education teachers district vice president Anand Shetty Palli were the chief guests of the occasion.

 

Belman PU College physical education teacher Alwyn Andred was felicitated on transfer to Udupi taluk. 

 

The national athletes, Nitte University student Dinesh, Morarji Desai Residential School students Deepak Salian, Pratyaksha Kumar Hermunde, Ditin, Sudarshan Nayak, Sagar, Roshan Hegde and Dikshit Rai, physical education teacher Usha Shetty Nitte, Morarji Desai Residential School physical education teacher Jagdish were also honored on the same occasion.

 

Nitte PHC resident medical officer Dr Satish spoke on sports medicine and first aid.

 

The block education officer Manmohan H K in his valedictory address lauded the workshop that would motivate the physical education teachers to excel.
