Udupi: Project Model Exhibition held at SMVITM, Bantakal

Udupi, 25 Aug 2015: Shree Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology & Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, near here under the aegis of the Faculty and Student Chapters of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), in association with SangamOne Connected Services Ltd, Mangalore, organized, an in-house project model exhibition-cum-competition on Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT-2015) for the students of the institute at the institute premises on I-Day. Eighteen teams exhibited their models and 14 teams participated in the poster making competition at the event. 

 

The exhibition-cum-competition was inaugurated by retired Professor Sridhar Rao of Poorna Prajna College, Udupi.

 

 

In the valedictory programme held in the afternoon, Professor Dr Radhakrishna S Aithal, director of SMVITM presided the function. Chandrashekar Rao Kuthyar, Lead Consultant, SangamOne Connected Services Ltd, Mangaluru was the chief guest on the occasion.  

 

K V Raghav Kamath, General Manager (IT), Corporation Bank, Mangaluru; Abdullah Khan, Mentor, Cascademic Solutions, Bengaluru; Gopinath Nambiar, Assistant General Manager, Integrated Management Center and Professor Dr Thirumaleshwara Bhat, Principal of SMVITM gave away the prizes to the winners.

 

Addressing the students at the valedictory, Kuthyar appreciated their ideas and the models they made and emphasized the need for technology growth in the area of IIOT. He gave some real life examples with regard to IIOT. The guests and the jury members also addressed the gathering and expressed their appreciation for the ideas presented in the competition. They also appreciated the inter-disciplinary teams formed by SMVITM students of different engineering disciplines.

 

In the intra-collegiate project model competition, the project on Automotive Box-Dimension Finder by Shraddha S Shetty, Shreeraksha Shetty, Shreya U Shetty and Veeksha U; E-Bunch by Joyce Angel Jathanna, Hezal Vijeeta D’Souza, Sahil Ali Tonse and Rahul S Sawant; Multi – Functional Smart Fitness Band by Nikil Acharya and Fervez Jaffer B M were identified as winners and honored with a cash prize of Rs 10, 000 each and certificates and another 6 shortlisted teams were awarded with a cash prize of Rs 5,000 and certificates. The makers of 3 posters adjudged the best were awarded a cash prize of Rs 1,000 and certificates.

 

Dr Ravindra H J, head of department of Physics at SMVITM welcomed the gathering. Siju V Soman, ISTE co-ordinator presented a brief report of IIOT-2015. Rajesh Nayak, Assistant Professor, department of Electronics and Communication Engineering proposed the vote of thanks.
