Bantwal: BJP protests against town council for works under investigation of DC, Lokayukta

Bantwal, 24 Mar 2015: The opposition BJP in town council staged sit-in in front of council office here on Monday March 23, against floating tender for works that was under investigation by Lokayukta and Deputy Commissioner and also clearing the payment to the bonafide contractor. 

 

BJP members Govind Prabhu, Devdas Shetty, Bhaskar Tailor, Suguna Kini and Sandhya Nayak held the sit-in on the occasion.

 

 

The town council prepared an active project violating the norms of SFC fund in 2014 -15, in spite of the opposition of BJP and recorded as unanimously approved. BJP filed a complaint with Lokayukta and Deputy Commissioner in this regard. Lokayukta court investigated the issue and order to clear within 30 days. The issue remained as it is owing to apathy of council and officers, alleged BJP.

 

Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, BJP leaders Ulipadyguttu Rajesh Naik, G Anand, Mahabala Shetty and others supported the agitating council members.

 

Meanwhile, the protesters presented a memorandum to Assistant Commissioner Dr Ashok when he arrived at the council. Dr Ashok assured the protesters to investigate the issue at the earliest.
