Blore: Govt considers banning Sri Ram Sena

Bangalore, Sep 13, 2014: The state government is considering to enforce ban on Sri Ram Sena, the rightwing group led by Pramod Muthalik. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday told mediapersons in Belgaum that government is mulling to ban the group. 

 

"Sri Ram Sena has already been banned in Goa and it is inevitable for us to think in the same direction to ensure law and order across the state," Siddaramaiah said.

 

 

Sri Ram Sena, founded by Pramod Muthalik after it broke away from the Bajrang Dal, shot to notoriety in Karnataka during the previous BJP regime when members of the Sena stormed a swanky pub in Mangalore and attacked several women. 

 

The CM decision has left the rightwing activists fuming. Muthalik said, "Sri Ram Sena is a registered body under the law. Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parikkar is a foolish CM and Siddaramaiah need not think on those lines."
