Mangalore International Airport Users Forum to stage Dharna on August 18

Mangalore, Aug 17, 2014 : Urging the fulfilment and various demand and to attract the attention of authorities over various issues the Mangalore International Airport Users Forum(MIAUF) will stage a drarna in front of the DC office on August 18.

 

Addressing the press meet in the press club today the co-ordinator of MIAUF, Prabhakara Ambalathere said “The Authorities of the Mangalore international Air port are minting money from the visitors. They have collected the enough and more money from several years and even after collecting funds more than the cost, it is high time that user fee collection is stopped.”

 

 

“Even though they have made enough and more money and they have not distributed the compensation to the victims of the air crash, which is heartening. The authorities should immediately set up the memorial to the victims and immediate distribution of the compensation.”

 

 " When one books Air India Express ticket online most of the seats are blocked. When you enter the air craft you can see most of the seats vacant. It is said that it is to compensate the weight of luggage and passengers, the situation was not different even when the passengers were allowed to carry 30 Kg luggage where as now it has been reduced to 17kg."

 

Some of the major demands to be fulfilled are:

1.Budget airlines flights to Mangalore from G C C countries.

2.Cancellation of airport user’s fee in Mangalore.

3.A memorial for the Bajpe Air Accident Victims with their details and immediate distribution of the compensation.

4.Curtious treatment from the air and ground staff of Air India Express.

 

After the dharna the forum will submit a memorandum to the concerned departments through DC, Airport director, customs commissioner and State minister.

 

M R Vasudeva, chief co-ordinator of Karnataka NRI’s forum, B A Mahamood, Venkatesh Bhat and others were among the present at the occasion.

 

MIAUF  is a forum instituted To resolve the issues of the passengers and to co-ordinate with the  concerned Governments, the representatives of the various organisations of Gulf Co-operation Council countries.
