Udupi, 18 Jul 2014: The humans are driving the wild animals to stray into inhabited lands by reckless deforestation.  The wild animals such as peacocks, leopards, boar and monkeys damage the crops that are grown by farmers taking away their livelihoods, said Udupi diocesan Stree Sangatan president Violet Castelino.

Violet was speaking after inaugurating eco Eco Club and Interact Club at Don Bosco English Medium School, Shirva, near here on Thursday July 17.

The plants were distributed to the students under forest department project ‘A tree for every child’ on the same occasion.

The heads of Eco Club, Interact Club, students’ council and other Associations of School, head teacher Gretta Noronha, teachers Irene Mendonca and Alwyn Danti were present.

Aron Alva compered the programme.  Farzana proposed vote of thanks.
