Mangalore, 17 Jun 2013: The torrential rains continued to lash across the district with high velocity gales here since over a week.  The monsoon preparedness of municipal body is tested by the early monsoons, with chocked drains resulted in flash floods in low-lying areas, besides effluents polluting the water sources.

The motorcyclists are the worst hit by reckless driving of local and express buses.   The city roads cannot cope with rising automobiles competing for every inch of space dangerously during the torrential rains.  The thrill of speed by youth driving cars and two-wheelers disregarding traffic rules resulted in a few deaths recently.

Thick fog has covered the entire coastal district making motoring hazard with poor visibility since 5.00pm on Monday.
